Subaru Baja, Subaru Baja Turbo: Reviews, Specifications

The four-door all-wheel drive pickup Subaru Baja, created on the basis of the model Outback, was manufactured from 2002 to 2006 at the American car factory of the company. It was designed as a vehicle for an adventure holiday. Its cargo platform was quite small (with a length a bit more than a meter), but the rear wall of the car along with the second row of seats could be folded, providing additional space for cargo.

Subaru Baja was powered by a 2.5-liter engine capable of giving out up to 165 horse power.  In 2003 the vehicle acquired a 210 hp turbo version of this powertrain. As for the transmission, it could be either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic one, with the full drive as the only option.

The pickup was officially sold in the US, Canada and Chile. In 2003 a batch of one and a half hundred cars was sent to the German market. The car maker initially expected to sell up to 24,000 such pickups every year, but in the end, the demand for it turned to be much lower. For four years, only 30,000 pickups were produced.
