Deaths of ATV riders on public roads have elevated dramatically since 1982, the primary year they had been explicitly identified in FARS. The proportion of fatally injured ATV riders who were forty and older increased from 9 p.c in 1982 to forty seven % in 2019. The proportion younger than age 20 decreased from fifty four % in 1982 to 17 percent in 2019.
